ATM Caves

Are you ready to explore one of the most popular Mayan burial site in Belize? Well exploring the ATM Caves is right for you!

ATM, which stands for Actun Tunichil Munknal, is a cave system approximately five kilometers long with numerous chambers. Within the cave are skeletons, ceramics and stoneware which serves as a testament of the Mayan civilization.

One of the most popular skeleton within the cave is “The Crystal Maiden”, the skeleton remains of an adolescent believed to be a male. The ceramics are unique and includes holes which indicate its use for ceremonial purposes.

Partaking in this adventure includes approximately 45 minutes hiking, as well as swimming, climbing through various chambers and exploring. Additionally, in order to preserve the cave system, cameras and shoes are not allowed whilst inside.

This adventure includes a full day of exploration with our expert, licensed guide in the ancient realm of the Maya.
