ATM Cave

Are you ready to explore one of the most popular Mayan burial site in Belize? Well exploring the ATM Cave is right for you!

ATM, which stands for Actun Tunichil Muknal, is a cave system approximately five kilometers long with numerous chambers. Within the cave are skeletons, ceramics and stoneware which serves as a testament of the Mayan civilization.

One of the most popular skeleton within the cave is “The Crystal Maiden”, the skeleton remains of an adolescent believed to be a male. The ceramics are unique and include holes which indicate their use for ceremonial purposes.

Partaking in this adventure include approximately 45 minutes hike from the parking lot, as well as swimming through the entrance of the cave and climbing through various chambers.  Please note that in order to preserve the cave system, cameras are no longer allowed whilst inside.
